Earlier this year, my daughter purchased her first home and moved out of this room.  I knew I wanted to make this room into the guest room but I also wanted to make it special for her when she comes home for visits.

We starting by ripping up the carpet and my husband installed a custom wood floor in here.  Now, my husband is a wood floor guy, so he took it upon himself to create a work of art with this floor. He doesn’t have much spare time so this ended up taking quite a few months to complete. But, it is a beautiful floor so I can’t really complain.

Once the floor was finished my son & I repainted the room. I love this beautiful Behr paint color, silver bullet. I also painted all the wood trim & closet doors white. I’m so glad I did, it makes the room so much brighter.

Once the holidays rolled around, I knew I wanted to warm this room up with buffalo check!

One of my favorite things about the holidays is having family & friends come to visit. What’s better than a cozy guest room all decked out for Christmas!

Once I decided I wanted to add buffalo check, I searched Amazon for a reasonably priced duvet cover.  This one had ruffles, just the look I was going for! I thought it went perfectly with my white ruffled curtains that I purchased earlier on Amazon.

Last year, this flocked tree was in my master bedroom.  Since my master is now being updated, I decided this would be the perfect spot!

A flocked tree with buffalo check and pops of red, really sets the tone for this room.  I think it just screams cozy!

Having a nightstand next to the bed with a reading lamp is a definite necessity for my guests.  I also leave a phone charger in the drawer just in case they may have forgotten theirs.  I also like to leave out fresh clean towels and washcloths, as well as a basket filled with toiletries. I add small shampoos/conditioners, lotions and I even added a pair of new cozy socks!

During the spring and summer I will add fresh flowers, but for winter, i decided to add a scented candle.  One of my favorite purchases this year was this buffalo check chair from Marshall’s.  You can purchase a similar one here.  It definitely cozies up the room, plus my guests have a place to sit.

My son just recently moved out, so there will be another bedroom remodel in the works after the holidays as well as my master bedroom! I love home projects and have many planned for the new year! I hope you’ll stick around.
